Wow what a milestone, the first day of Kindergarten at Lakewood Christian School! The kids went to school for two hours today and parents attended with them. An already emotional mommy had to check back the tears as we entered the auditorium for the welcome ceremony, my Old Mater tissues were close by :-) DJ loved his first day and said he wanted to "stay in kindergarten forever." He has 13 boys and 7 girls in his class with his teacher Mrs. Tague and her aid who stays until noon Mrs. Henry. They are such amazingly patient women!
9/7/11 - After walking DJ to his class he turns to me and says, "You can leave now." Man, that went right to my heart! I know I should be happy that he loves school because many kids have a hard time with the separation but...

Well preschool will soon be over and it will be time for DJ to start Kindergarten (ahhhhhhhhhhhhh). Such a milestone but having him go to another school will be harder for me I think than him. Here in CA they have "school of choice" so if you don't want you child to attend his designated home school (which I don't) you can apply to other schools in the district, so we are waiting to hear. The wait can take up until the first day of school, kind of crazy. Anyhow I plan on cherishing these last few months of preschool at St. Timothy's Lutheran School.
Loved this - a picture of my family (it is laminated so a bit hard to see)

As of 4/2 DJ is offically without training wheels! We had been wondering when DJ would master riding his bike without training wheels. We bought him a scooter to help teach him balance and he did really well on it. I went away for a weekend and came back and DJ was so excited for me to go to the park so that he could show me how he rode sans training wheels, him and Daddy had worked on it the day before. I was so proud watching him ride and shouting, "I'm free, free, free!"

Seriously, where did the time go? I can't believe it is March and this is my first post of the year, so much for keeping this blog updated more regularly! So what has been going on in DJ's life:
DJ is playing tball again, he says he misses soccer and has expressed an interest in basketball and karate. He loves to go hit balls at the driving range and is pretty good, he has however outgrown his left handed golf club and now needs a complete let handed set of clubs. Who knows what sports endeavor will be next.
First tball game of the season
DJ had a great time at his friend Nicki's bowling birthday party.
I decided to renew our annual passed to Disneyland, DJ and I both have a great time when we go. We have only been once so far this year (in January) but the goal is to average once a month. Below are some shots from our January visit.

And the thumb sucking...we are working on putting an end to this. He has stopped during the day but still reverts back to the thumb at night. We had a talk and DJ decided he will make an effort to stop even though he repeatedly said that he doesn't know how, I am optimistic!

We celebrated DJ's 5th birthday on 12/10 with his friends at Chuck E Cheese. This was a bid deal for him beacause it is the first year that he has had a party with his friends in CA. He had a blast; played for 3 hours straight, ate lots of pizza and played lots of games.
Who said Christmas babies miss out? This was DJ's second party (the first was the Saturday after Thanksgiving at Gma Pat and Papa Dennis' house) and we haven't even gotten to MD yet! Lucky!
